A meeting is on. Suddenly from some corner the alarm of a watch goes on. Beep... Beep... Beep... - the distinct pitch of a Timex Expedition. After the meeting I meet the owner of that Timex Expedition. I check with him why he set an alarm at an odd time. To my expectation he replies that he didn't set it. That sometime back it was accidentally set and he doesn’t know how to turn off the alarm. I was glad to meet another person facing the same problem that had haunted me for a while. Welcome to the Timex-Expedition-Watch-Problem Group!
The instruction set (key combinations) for Timex Expedition is quite complicated that it is quite hard to remember the combinations. I couldn't find any online manual that gives those instructions. So here goes one blog dedicated to the owners of Timex Expedition watch. It will help you turn off your alarm and chime. I have numbered the keys of the watch. Please see the image.
To turn off the alarm:
To turn off the chime, replace step 2 with "Toggle the button 4 till the chime symbol goes off."

To turn off the alarm:
- Toggle the button 2, till the word ALARM blinks on the display.
- Then press toggle buttons 3 and 4 simultaneously. The tiny alarm symbol (not word) on your display should go off.
- Press button 2 again.
To turn off the chime, replace step 2 with "Toggle the button 4 till the chime symbol goes off."

Thank you! They should have REALLY made turning off the alarm one of the options when setting the alarm time. You can switch between weekday/weekend/every day, but you can't turn it off there. Stupid engineering.
Thanks so much! I normally just buried my watch in my sock drawer so I don't have to hear it (I have a newer watch that I use now), but it woke me up early this morning and I was determined to turn off the alarm. Success! =)
I am so happy to have found this link. I've had to put my watch in a drawer in another room each night so I could sleep through the alarm which goes off around 1AM.
Welcome... No problem at all folks :-)
Thank you! My watch has been going off daily for over three weeks and this was a life saver!
thank you thank you!
im in iraq now and for 9 months every night at midnight my stupid alarm goes off! and then it goes off again if i dont hit the buttons!
i can finally sleep an entire nite!
Welcome. Nice to hear that this post has been solving THE common problem of all of us :-)
Thank you!!!!
This information will be stored until I need it....and I am sure I will.
But the information I need is, "How do you put the back on the watch after removing it to replace the battery?"
It was hell to get off and now its impossible to get back on!!!
Thank you for this helpful information. Check out timex expedition watches for men in my blog.
Thank you so much!!!! After years of that insane beeping, I am finally free!!!!
thank you!!!!!!
thank you!!!!!!
Great work... I've struggle with this for years with an occassional success now and then. I've placed this link in my Favorites!
Thank you sooo much!!! I thought I tried everything before but never tried that.
Thanks!!!!
I was getting crazy with this. On my end the hour beep started all of a sudden. Tried to read the instructions but got lost after 10 minutes. Seeing that this post is 8 years old, and my watch is new, Timex could use some interface lessons on an otherwise brilliant watch. The improvement they did make was that you now only need to activate button 4, not 3 & 4 simultaneously, but it still defeats logic. I would never have figured it out if it wasnt for this page. Thanks.
mine must be different those instructions do not work
mine must be different those instructions do not work
Used this twice now! It won't be the last time! Thanks
THANK YOU!!!! For over a YEAR now I've had to stick my Timex in my Sock Drawer before bed, so my wife and I didn't have to hear "BEEP BEEP BEEP" at 1AM EVERY NIGHT. I'm an Electrical Engineer and Computer Programmer, and I STILL COULD NOT figure out how to shut that STUPID, ANNOYING, Alarm off!!!!! I find it funny how EVERYTHING I've just said, was said by other people in their comments before mine... "Sock Drawer" and "1AM", etc, seem to be common themes for a LOT of us!!!! The more I get used to newer products that are "Intuitive To Use" (like our iPhones that don't even need instruction manuals), the more I worry about where the Electronics Industry WAS heading before someone said, "ENOUGH! THESE THINGS JUST SHOULD NOT BE THIS DIFFICULT TO OPERATE!!!"
No more "Sock Drawer" routine before bed... That's going to take some getting used to, but at least it'll be getting used to something in a GOOD way!
THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
Hello.
My Mother got me a Timex Expedition from the Trail Series of watches. I accidentally turned the timer on ,and now no matter what I do it won't turn off, or even pause. I really need some help here.
I KNEW I could find out how to turn off the blasted alarm via the internet!! I continually tell my wife, "You can find any/all obscure information if you search the Net." And this qualifies as obscure information. I am greatly relieved not to have to be bothered by the blasted alarm every day. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Life saver. Thanks a ton.
This manual seems to cover the watch. At least for the few features I've tried it with:

Thank you so much for your valuable info & instructions..
Yes, thank you..it's usually 1 button to shut it off..but this time it's 2 buttons..why did they change it to be difficult..
So happy to find this thread. Thank you thank you!!
Omg silence after all these years. Thank you SO much.
This watch has always been a problem. There are also several Expedition models that may not all operate the same way. Here is the link to the manual I use.

My wife has thrown out the watch a number of times.after doing all the effort it still goes off. I am looking for hardware solution where alarm can be electronically or physically disabled.
THANK YOU!!!! I finally thought to do a google search to solve this problem and came across your post.
I got my watch second hand so no instruction manual.
Again, Thank you!!!
The beeping got turned on somehow, and I have no idea how it turns off. Thanks to your post I've got it sorted. Cheers.
It is 2019 and 13 years later you are still saving the world from Timex Expedition Alarms!
Thank YOU!!!!!
Hi,heres one for you.I`ve just bought a Timex expedition shock watch.Trying to turn the alarm off is making me feel like giving some abuse to the person who designed it.I`ve tried the above instructions but my watch is of a different design. Can anyone help please? Thanks
Spent many minutes trying to turn off the alarm. I never would have figured out the simultaneous keys 3 and 4 press. Maybe Timex is trying to drive us insane and to drain our vital bodily fluids.
I eventually found the answer to this allarm issue. THANK YOU!
This alarm going off in the middle of the night has been driving my wife nuts! So the waitch has to stay in my office at the other end of the house.
The joke is that I am tone-deaf from my years in the military and I do not hear the alarm even if I hold it against my ear.
My wife will be most appreciative!!!!
Thanks. Much appreciated!
Finally struggle ended :)
Thank you so much
This is so sophisticated that I have turned this off twice before but forgot how I did it...I dread everytime I accidentally hit some of these buttons for the alarm to go off at an odd time!! Thanks for the post.
